What is Energy Coaching?

The Northampton Climate Emergency Coalition (NCEC) has established a team of energy advisors - or "coaches", who can provide assistance to homeowners seeking to cost effective energy saving actions.

Decarbonizing one’s home to reduce dependence on fossil fuels for energy is a daunting process for most residents. It requires some understanding of heating & cooling systems, how heat pumps work, and how to work with Mass Save contractors and heat pump installers.  In addition, understanding how to take advantage of the available state and federal incentives is complicated but very important factor in decision-making.

An Energy Coach is a volunteer trained with knowledge of energy saving technology such as heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, PV (photovoltaic) solar systems, battery storage systems ,and  EV (electric vehicles). Our Energy Coaches can help you through the process, and provide guidance for homeowners as they decide whetner and how to proceeed. An Energy Coach has no financial stake in any decisions you make, we're here to help you make the right choice for you and your home based on your needs.
